Keighley’s Celebrity Switch-on
by Craven and Valley Life
The name of the celebrity lined up to switch on Keighley’s Christmas lights at the Airedale Shopping Centre is due to be unveiled…
Thousands are again expected to head to Keighley to see the event, with VIPs joining Santa to light up the town on Sunday 29 November. Pulse FM’s road show will also be at the centre from 2pm, hosted by presenters Danny Mylo and Rosie Madison, with competitions and fun games to entertain the crowds.
Local choirs will perform festive favourites and carols, plus other activities such as balloon modelling sessions, face painting and children’s rides will help make it a fun day for all ages.
Airedale will once again play host to Santa’s Grotto on Brunswick Arcade, run by Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, the centre’s charity for 2015.
The magical winter wonderland will see Father Christmas and his helpers raising vital funds for the hospice in Oxenhope. Donations for the hospice can also be dropped into a wishing well in the centre’s animated display, and the charity is raising more funds with a gift-wrapping service through December, until 4pm on Christmas Eve. Airedale Shopping Centre Manager Steve Seymour said: “It’s always a big event for Keighley when the Christmas lights are switched on, and I am sure that once again we will get a great turn-out on Sunday November 29.

“We are again working in conjunction with the Keighley Town Centre Association, and Keighley Town Council – we have pulled out all the stops to make sure there’s another great day for all the family.
“It includes local artists performing on stage, entertainers, carol singers and a real bang when our celebrity and Santa and Keighley’s Mayor push the plunger to light up the town.
“Our retailers are all now getting ready for Christmas shoppers, with lots of bargains expected on Black Friday, November 27.”
